CLAIM YOUR GOOGLE MY BUSINESS LISTING

Google my business and Google maps listings are at the top of local and regional search results and above organic search listings. If you’re a local business and want to appear top of the local search there are a few things you can do to rise above your competitors.

So it makes sense to claim your Google my business listing and optimize it to appear at the top. You can claim your listing here: https://www.google.com/business/.

COMPLETE YOUR GOOGLE MY BUSINESS LISTING

Make sure that you complete every area that Google provides for your listing. The secret is to ensure that your business data i.e. business name, telephone number, website URL, and address match exactly the info on your website and other business listing sites.

GET CUSTOMERS TO GIVE YOU A REVIEW/TESTIMONIAL

The power of testimonials on your listing can be the difference between a call and someone not taking action. You don’t have to have a large number of reviews…just more than your competitors. It’s always difficult to ask for a review, however, if you have delivered on your promise then the customer should be willing to do so…BUT YOU HAVE TO ASK!

I have also found over the years that customers are willing to give a good review, but the very thought of taking time to write one stops them. So a great way to make this easier is to write the review yourself, send it to the customer and explain that you understand how difficult and time-consuming it can be. If they are happy with the review you have written or want to adjust it that’s fine. As long as they post it to your listing.
